Lt Col Todd DePorter

Lt Col Todd DePorter began his long and distinguished association with Civil Air Patrol (CAP) in 1984, joining as a cadet in the Paradise Valley Cadet Squadron 310. As a young cadet, he demonstrated a strong commitment to the CAP core values, earning the General Billy Mitchell Award in 1986. In 1986, Lt Col DePorter transitioned from cadet to military service, enlisting in the United States Air Force. Over a remarkable 26-year career, he served as a Security Forces professional, performing a wide range of duties including police patrolman, investigator, security specialist, and ultimately serving as a Professional Military Instructor at the Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy. He retired from the Air Force in 2012 at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, the highest enlisted rank, reflecting a career of exceptional leadership and dedication.

Lt Col DePorter rejoined Civil Air Patrol in 2018, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a passion for mentorship and education. Since returning, he has served in numerous leadership roles, including Wyoming Wing Director of Education and Training, Squadron Commander of the Cheyenne Composite Squadron, and has contributed as a Safety Officer, Finance Officer, and Character Development Instructor. His commitment to CAP’s mission is further demonstrated by his role as a Volunteer University instructor, where he helps develop and inspire the next generation of CAP leaders.
